    Sometimes the world is enough...
Another rotation has just ended.. meaning that I am that much closer to graduation. However, at this point I am extremely tired... tired of what you may ask:

-Not getting paid for my services.. pharmacy services... get your head out of the gutter (if it was there in the first place).
-Being painted as a greedy bitch... yea... I can be a bitch at times... but greed doesn't equal wanting/yearning/entitlement..

    Random thoughts for the day:

-Seriously America... the only two represenatives of women who might have/will eventually become president for this election were Palin and Clinton... really??? Aren't there anymore American women who are more well-spoken, intelligent, more qualified for the job (this is a rhetorical question)..... Don't get me wrong.. I am a huge feminist... but really... we couldn't find anyone more qualified.... my money is on Tina Fey...
-The American economy has sucked for the last year... and is continuing to suck... why hasn't anything been done sooner??? Why did the votes for this bailout plan reflect election-time politics and not true beliefs?? Why do CEOs still get golden parachutes even when their companies fail. However, the "normal worker" will just get their pensions reduced and/or fired??

This is a simple song.. but where my mind is at now...

    Everybody wants to live,
Like they wanna live and everybody wants to love
    Like they wanna love
    And everybody wants to be
    Closer to free
Everybody wants respect, just a little bit
And everybody needs a chance, once in a while
    Everybody wants to be
    Closer to Free
    Everybody one
    Everybody two
    everybody free
    Everybody needs to touch
    You know, now and then
And everybody needs a good, good friend
    Everybody wants to be
    Closer to Free
    I said everybody one
    Everybody two
    Everybody Free
    Everybody wants to live
Like they wanna live and everybody wants to love
Like they wanna love and everybody wants to be closer to free
    Yeah, closer to free
    Closer to free.

    ions ago.....
I actually posted in this thing.

Life has been insanely busy as of late (a week before I was supposed to leave home to Michigan until now). Here is a recap of my life the last two months:

    Mid-Mayish:

It all started when I had this insanely large rash over the back of my neck and part of my face. I went to the death center on campus.... I saw the nurse practioner.. and of course.. she misdiagnosed me... I only went to see her cause I was itching so badly. Well, I had to get my physical done by the health center Doctor two days later, and he told me that was a terrible misdiagnosis and that it would go away in two days tops without any medication needed. And, not to my surprise at all, it did. Well, I called my mom to inform her of this, and she sounded really out of it. Finally she told me that Dad was in the hospital. He had had problems breathing the night before and mom made him go the hospital. The way she was describing all the medical issues, it sounded just like an MI to me. She told me she didn't have anymore information, and that I needed to go and have fun at the Senior Sendoff party in Lima. The senior send-off was alright. They had free beer: bud light, not the best, not the worst. Some of us got bored after we had our beers and decided to walk in downtown lima and find ice cream.... 30 minutes later and 4 guys following us.... we found it... So, my mom called me and informed me the next day that it wasn't a simple heart attack. My dad had rheumatic fever as a child, and as a result, his aortic valve was calcified. He needed to get his aortic valve replaced on Monday. Thankfully, Kier let me take the final via WebCt when I was home and Evan was able to help me move out of Ada on Sunday. I then woke up at the butt crack of dawn to go with my mom to the hospital and wait while my dad was in surgery. The surgery went very well: 2 hours ahead of schedule. His cardiac surgeon graduated from Harvard and is supposedly one of the leaders in new technology. His incision was barely an inch, which I had been told is insanely small for that type of surgery. He was in the hospital for 2 weeks after this, I visited him everyday. He is still recovering, but overall, is doing very well!! And a few days after he was discharged.... I started my first rotation...

June: Specialty Medicine Compounding Pharmacy South Lyon,MI

At first, I was really worried about this rotation. I wasn't very good in compounding lab and barely remembered anything that I had learned from lab. The worst part of the rotation was the commute. On a good day, it was about 1 hour 15 minutes each way. When a huge storm hit Michigan in mid-June and left numerous trees and powerlines on roads, the commute got to as bad as 1 hour 45 minutes one way. On top of this, I worked sorta "late-hours" as a pharmacy was concerned: 9am-6pm. So, I would leave for work at 7 and not get back until 8ish. Besides the commute, the rotation rocked. You really see how arhaic our compounding skills are. I mastered the capsule machine, which was pretty fun to work. I also enjoyed learning about vetrinary medicine, as you are never taught about this in pharmacy school. One of the techs was a year younger than me, and we had the same taste in music. There was XM in the compounding lab, so it was good music all the time: Death Cab, White Stripes, Artic Monkeys, etc. I made some really good contacts, as South Lyon is in the Ann Arbor area that I would like to move to in the next year or two. Probably one of the best parts of this rotation was that there was barely any outside work that needed to be done. On the last day of work, they ordered carry-out for me from a really really good italian restaurant in town. To make a long story short,I would recommend this rotation to anyone. In fact, they are taking 5 Northern students this year. Of these 5, only 2 of us are from Michigan.

Before I left, Evan gave me my b-day gift 2 months early: an IPOD with an IPOD giftcard. I think today after work, I am finally going to get time to use it.....

One down.... 8 more to go....

    Don't Look Back In Anger..
This song relates to the constant exhaustion whirlwind tiredness that I have been experiencing over the last two months..

Slip inside the eye of your mind
Don't you know you might find
    A better place to play
You said that you'd never been
But all the things that you've seen
    Will slowly fade away

So I start a revolution from my bed
'Cos you said the brains I had went to my head
    Step outside, summertime's in bloom
    Stand up beside the fireplace
Take that look from off your face
You ain't ever gonna burn my heart out

And so Sally can wait, she knows it's too late as we're walking on by
Her soul slides away, but don't look back in anger I heard you say

Take me to the place where you go
Where nobody knows if it's night or day
But please don't put your life in the hands
Of a Rock n Roll band
    Who'll throw it all away

I'm gonna start a revolution from my bed
'Cos you said the brains I had went to my head
Step outside 'cos summertime's in bloom
    Stand up beside the fireplace
Take that look from off your face
'Cos you ain't ever gonna burn my heart out

So Sally can wait, she knows it's too late as she's walking on by
My soul slides away, but don't look back in anger I heard you say

So Sally can wait, she knows it's too late as we're walking on by
Her soul slides away, but don't look back in anger I heard you say

    So Sally can wait
She knows it's too late as shes walking on by
    My soul slides away
But don't look back in anger
    Don't look back in anger
    I heard you say

    At least not today

    The Two Minute Post...
    Shit... I start rotations tomorrow.

On one hand, it is sorta scary, as you will find that most of your vast knowledge you learn from pharmacy school will escape you at one point. Also, I am not looking forward to the 3 hour round trip drive for the next 4 weeks, especially with the price of gas.

On the other hand, this means I am one step closer to graduation. Also, my preceptor is amazingly awesome based upon the conversation we had 2 weeks ago.

The wings are powning the penguins... what else is new!! It is awesome to be rooting for a good hockey team- it makes everything in detroit look better when they win!!

In a year from now I will be Dr. Gates..... shit!!!!

Wow... only one more day in Ada sorta...
This has been an insane week....

For those of you who don't know, my father is having open heart surgery back in Michigan this Monday at 3am in the morning. It is really a fluke though- he had rheumatic fever as a child, and as a result has a calcified aortic valve. So needless to say, I am leaving Ada early to go back home. I said this when my grandfather passed away last year, and I will say it again now: you really know who your real friends are in times of dire need/crisis. There are the friends who are just "friends" and may listen. But, there are the real friends that go out of their way to make you feel loved.

I am blessed with having such an amazing boyfriend. He spent the last few days running around, getting things in order for my mom. He is also helping me move everything out this Sunday.

I feel that if I have any advice for anyone taking finals this week, it is: school really isn't a big deal. Yea, pharmacy school is hard. But I am pretty sure that everyone will pass their tests this week. However, it is family that is the most important thing in life. And when something really serious happens to a family member, you just can't help feel anything but helpless.

In other news, my rotation schedule for this year has been finalized!! It worked out a lot better than I ever intended. Yea, I will be stuck in Ada-area July-November. But that means that after November 30th, I will only be back in the Ada area for two main events: boot camp and graduation. And then, I will be back at my real home the rest of my life!!

It is kinda ironic, I have 2 rotations at the place where my dad is having a surgery. However, it is one of the best hospitals in Michigan, let alone the country. So that makes me feel better.

I really enjoyed this quarter up until this point. Capstone is actually A LOT OF WORK. However, it was everything outside capstone that fucking rocked.... I won a GPS unit at OPA. Right before they drew my name, I told my friends, "I could really use one of those things on rotations. However, I never win anything." So that was a lot of fun. I am also impressed with Columbus' nightlife. The Spice Bar is amazing!! For $20 I had: a Cosmo, a Margarita, a long island iced tea, gourmet mac and cheese, and a chocolate eruption desert. It really felt like I was in sex and the city with the atmosphere. In this version of sex and the city, I got casted as Samantha (the first time ever).

I also enjoyed going to the Mudhens game with Evan, Scuba, and Hannah as always.

The Senior Send-Off was fun. We went exploring in downtown Lima at 8pm. In retrospect, that was sorta dangerous and scary. However, it was worth it to get ice cream.

I can't wait to graduate next year!!! That really is the start of life, this is sorta all just filler until then!!

    Have a great summer everyone!!!

    YIKES!!!
I have to contact my preceptor for my first rotation in 1-2 weeks.... wow... I am getting old!!!

In other news... perhaps I will post an actual post after this smothering thing called Capstone is done!!

But on the bright side... ONLY 1 MORE WEEK OF ACTUAL CLASSES!!! I think being stuck here in Ada for 1.5 summers was actually worth it in retrospect... I have terrible senioritis right now... I don't think I could do another full year here!!

Good luck all of you P4s with ID... I was soooooooo exhausted at this point that year! You can do it!!!

    Ohio grrrrr...
Just when I thought that thankfully Hillary would be pushed out of the race...

If the ballot in November is McCain vs. Clinton, I will be forced to adopt the same voting strategy that I used in 2004:

Choose the lesser of the two evils.

That time I thought it would be a fluke. This time, I am starting to see a trend in America that I don't like.

Holy shit.... capstone is next quarter already???

I can't believe how quickly these last few years have gone by!! I am really really looking forward to next quarter: capstone, nuclear pharmacy with some of my fav. peeps, Honors project with Dr. Martin, and Chemical dependency.

I am really looking forward to these for a few reasons: no more tests every friday, taking some electives I actually want to take, only having 14 credit hours for the first time ever, random road trips planned for next quarters, rotations just around the corner...

Speaking of rotations..... I GOT 4 ROTATIONS IN MICHIGAN!!! Which means.. the last month I will be living in Ohio is this November!!! From then on.... it's Michigan all the time. My rotations start in June and get done in March- which means that I have a lot of time to work between graduation and the end of rotations. Also, I got 2 rotation sites that were previously not given to ONU students. Both of which are at a hospital 10 minutes from my house. I think I got those rotations since I did my pop hours there. Networking really helps for rotation sites- P4s- Don't burn bridges where you work as it may come back to bite you in the ass for rotations. It is really exciting that I got 3 rotations at 2 of my top sites for residencies when I graduate. I got the rotation types that I realy wanted at these sites as well- ICU, Oncology, and pediatrics!! I love Dr. Kline- she is officially my favorite faculty ever!!

I really enjoyed Pharmacy Admin. I really like business- I think it is quite easy and was a nice change of pace after hardcore therapeutics modules. The best part was working on developing a fertility clinic for a project. We had wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much fun!! The best part was when we got Dr. Hrometz and Dr. Martin to film a commericial for us!! It really helps when you know the faculty in order for them to help you with a project!! It was RIDICULOUS!!! We had scrips written out for them- and they didn't like them. So, they decided to ad lib- the result was an insanely funny commercial, which many people called the funniest commercial ever. We definitely got an amazingly high grade for our work!!!

This break is going to be ACLS preparing all the time since we have to get the test done the day we get back from capstone. I also need to narrow done my honors project topics, and file taxes for APO. Speaking of which, I got a huge-ass return from the government!! That will be put to good use for gas money for rotations next year!!!

However, i definitely will have some major socializing to do: a double date with Evan and myself and Chris and his new girlfriend in Ann Arbor, hanging out with some co-workers, celebrating Brigitte's 21st in style, attempting to contact Cassie!! I can't believe Evan is leaving for Geneva in 2 weeks- i had the money and didn't have capstone, I so would be going!!

    Til later!!!

    Long Road to Ruin...
Just a brief word about the Grammys last night:

Although I didn't watch it, they seemed to get a few things right:

Amy Winehouse took home a lot of awards including Best New Artist- which I definitely agree with. Now all she needs to do is get her personal life taken care of. But at least she brings something new to the table- the Motown/Funk/I can kick your ass even though I probably weigh only 90 pounds on a good day.....

The Foo Fighters took home some awards- well deserved... I downloaded the album after Dr. Roecker recommended it to the class- I really really like "long road to ruin".

    And most importantly....

THE WHITE STRIPES WON A FEW AWARDS.... they are one of the most innovative bands of our generation and always managed to get snubbed the grammys... I guess there is some justice in the world..

    Now to make lunch!!

Perhaps a longer post when I am home a week from Wednesday!!!

Put the horse before the cart....
So yea.... yet another person dies when I am in Ada.... not much surprise with this one.

Almost a year ago, my grandfather passes away of Leukemia.

Today at 6AM my dog, Parkay, passed away. Suposedly it was very quick and painless according to my parents who called me at 9am this morning crying. I guess my dog collapsed in my father's arms and went over to be petted by my mom just before he died.

Parkay was an amazing dog. I had him for 13 years (he was 14 when he died)- and I am only 21, which means that I have had him for the majority of my life.

There was so many funny stories that I would tell about him...
-He attacked my plastic Shamu that I got from seaworld and ate have of it and had to had it surgically removed- he wore one of those dog halos for a month after.
-I was talking with my hands on a car trip and happened to have a white castle in my hands. He jumped from this car seat and ate all of it from my hands.

Times like these make me wish that I was back in MI. At least if all goes as planned for rotations- I will be back in MI this time next year (hopefully in December for good- no more Ohio for me)....

On the positive side- I had some great friends who helped get my mind off my dog tonight. It was fun to get out of Ada and enjoy life.

*While out tonight, we talked about some of the songs that were sorta "banned" right after 9-11; according to the article, it was sorta suggestion.... sorta random list.. here is the wiki link to it...

Keep my family in your prayers for all the shit we have had to go through the last year!!!

    Capstone-Wha???
I can't believe that yesterday I just registered for capstone. Some P5s are really freaking out about it since it means- that we have finished all therapeutics modules and are going to be graduating this time-ish next year!!

Thank God oncology is done!! That was probably the most draining/ disorganized module yet. I really thought I would like it going into it. It was neat to learn about my grandfather's cancer and how they tried to treat it.

One my of my classmates, Jamie gave birth today. That is crazy, but good timing: this week is pretty much laid back.

I have a feeling that I might actually like Pharm Admin. I took a year of accounting in high school and still know a lot the the business lingo.

This last weekend was a lot of fun. I went to the Freed Center event with some pals. I hadn't been to NOM the entire year, and when we got there, they had no: Swiss Cheese, Quesadillas, or chocholate flavoring- it was pretty hilarious!!! The event was decent- it took place in Michigan which made me laugh!! A lot of funny jokes as well!!

Yesterday after Oncology officially met its demise was amazing!!! I rested and then went to dinner with some of my P5 pals. We ended up at Texas Roadhouse since Tumbleweed closed. The entire restaurant was almost all P5s with everyone smiling and drinking- nice sites!!! I then came back to my apartment and had margaritas and watched American Gladitors with some other pals- I hated that rodeo rider- she was soooo full of herself!!! I then went to the Beagle with some other P5s. We had heard a rumor that Kinder was there- but he must have just left before we got there.

This weekend should be a lot of fun:
    -Going home
-Sleeping in my bed back home
-Hanging out with some peeps on Friday night
-Going to the Detroit Auto Show
-Going to the private Hyuandai party after the show- free boos and bowling and rock music- can't complain!!

    Some memorable quotes/randomness from Onology-RIP!!!

Dr. Kinder: "Do any of you have really high levels of progesterone in your bodies now?"
Class looks confused, no one raises their hands
Dr. Kinder:" Let me rephrase this, is anyone pregnant in this class." He looks to see if anyone is raising their hands, but fails to look in the front row where Jaimie raises her hands.
Dr. Kinder: "That's good that none of you are pregnant- you are WAY too young to be pregnant."
Someone informs Dr. Kinder that Jamie is pregnant, and he quickly turns red- which none of us had ever seen before.
Dr. Kinder: Stumbling..."ummmmmm.... I'm sorry.... noooooo... I mean congratulations on your pregnancy."

The random name generator selects Rachel to be called on, who worked in my group to develop a therapeutic plan:

Andy Kill: Would you use this treatment even though it causes irreversible heart damage?
Rachel: Stands up, says "no", and sits down.
Andy Kill: Wait, I am not done yet...
Rachel: We found a study that supports our treatment.
Andy Kill: I would like to see that study!!!
*After class, Rachel, myself and Katie went up to Dr. Kinder and showed him our study, and he posted in on WebCt..

Dr. Kinder: What does your shirt say Mike???
    Mike: Abercrombee and Fitch
Dr. Kinder: Why aren't you naked now?? That is how all the Abercrombee and Fitch models appear mostly!!!

*I am going to be relaxing the next few days, since the P5s deserve it with all the shit we had to put up with for Oncology... good luck P4s!!!

A Reflection on the past 4 weeks
I love Christmas break!!! It has been nice to de-compress from school and stress and the like.

The most important lesson that I have learned over the last 4 weeks is that...

ONCOLOGY SUCKS!!!! It has been the worst module ever. period.
    Reasons why:
-Kinder took over many of the therapeutics lectures for Allison since he is in Africa- Kinder openly admitted that he didn't really know some of the stuff he was teaching.
-It feels like I have learned nothing but Med Chem. I admit that I love chemistry and find it interesting- but I believe therapeutics would be more important to learn for Pharmacists- call me crazy!!!
-We never know when case study stuff is on the tests.
-We never learned anything from case studies, and a couple of the times they kept us 30 minutes over-time.
-The random name generator in case studies- need I say more
-and last but not least- the insanely hard tests- some of which are hands down the hardest I have seen in pharmacy school so far...
On the positive side: only 1.5 weeks left of that class, and then a long-weekend to re-coop!!!!

The last weekend that I was at school had to be my favorite so far!!!!
-I went to a killa White Elephant Party held by some of my fav. P5s!!! I had never been to one before- it was definitely a lot of fun!!!
-Hung out with Hannah,Dilvi, and Rajvi and drank wine and watched movies!!!
    -Exchanged presents with the roomies!!!
-It was such a great weekend that I almost forgot that I had 2 tests in Oncology that week and a case study to prepare for!!!

*I am sorry to the people that wanted to give me cards and such before I left. I honestly had no time to get them!! I got a call from work the Thursday before break started. There are three techs that work in my store. In a strange coincidence of events- one of the techs got kidney stones, and an other of the techs got pleursy both on Wednesday night. They really wanted me to work Thursday- I said I would if I wasn't 150 miles away with no car and a final the next morning. I then got two more calls from the store begging me to work when I got back Friday. I got in the car to drive back to MI with my dad, and then ended up taking a brief shower and ran over to the store.

When I got to the store to work, there were 100 scripts waiting to be filled since there was only a pharmacist there. The pharmacist was so happy that I came and "bailed out her ass", that she brought me a present of gourmet brownie mix the next day!!!!

So needless to say, I am working about 40 hours over break= which is definitely a good thing so I have a lot of gas money next year for rotations!!!

Evan and I spent yesterday at my grandma's house. My mom and I then went to 8pm mass. It is a great feeling to worship with thousands of other Catholics- it isn't the minority feeling or us vs. them mentality that I get when I am in Ada-Especially with the dumb-shit thing that happened when Joan and other peeps were setting up chapel mass. When I was talking with my pharmacist about it- she was angry at the story and was like, "Why can't people just get along within Christianity!!! They should be happy that students want to take time out of their lives and worship!!"

I am going to get my absentee ballot from city council over break. If the final elections have Clinton vs. Huckabee- I am pretty sure that I will not vote in them. If it is Romney vs. Clinton- there is a 10% chance of voting. If it is either of the above with Barack as Clinton's VP- there is a 25% chance of voting for myself. Knowing my luck though, it will be Clinton vs. Huckabee- cause that would basically sum up American politics over the past 8 years!!!

I am going to leave for Evan's family shindig!!!

    Lataz!!!

The first real entry of the quarter
    Hello all..

I am typing from the new high-speed wireless connection that my parents had installed today. It is quite exciting: we got this along with a major upgrade in digital cable: 9 channels of Encore,5 channels of Starz and the BBC. Too bad my mom didn't want to lose TV Ontario sooner, or we could've got this package a hella sooner....

It sure feels sweet to be home. We got back at around 8 last night, and haven't been up to a whole lot except watching the dude install the wireless and digital cable.

So this leads me to a long-ass update of the quarter (since I haven't really done one up to this point!!)

    *My MI b-day party:
-Twas killa, it was a nice good-bye party for the summer. We went to the Dave and Buster's by my house with an interesting cross-section of people: Brig, Jon, Amy, Gloria, Ev, Brendon, Pat, Kyle, and Zaves. Besides losing my mac and cheese and Ev's Autoweek hat, it was really a lot of fun. Even though it was not technically by b-day at that point in time (aka 11:30PM on August 29th), my intern pals bought me a sex on the beach and Mint Schnapps, which were both good.

    *My OH b-day party:
-Well planned by Hannah and Rajvi. I sorta ruined a surprise though- Evan wasn't sure if he was coming up for this second party of mine or not. Scuba Steve wanted to know, since him and Ev are tight. So, I asked Evan if he was coming and all he said was: "Sorry, but I can't." In the six years of dating Evan, I knew he was hiding something. So, needless to say, I weasled out that he was coming to surprise me at my party- so it wasn't much of a surprise. Hannah and Rajvi were a little angry at me for ruining this surprise- but it was my b-day, so I think they eventually got over their anger. I had problems with my new verizon phone that I got, so Evan and I spent 1.5 hours at the Lima Verizon Store, and were thus 45 minutes late to my own party at Olive Garden. We had a great turn-out for the Olive Garden portion, and my drinking for the night began there: a mixed berry margarita- which was actually really, really good!! From there, most of us proceeded to the Beagle, and I was joined by 8 more friends that couldn't make it to Olive Garden. While at the Beagle, I had: A Whiskey Shot with David, a Screaming Nazi Shot with K LUS,A pineapple Turnover Shot with Hannah, A Pineapple Hynotic with Joan, and a Labbatt's with K LUS. Surpringly, I wasn't that far gone, just a little tipsy, as Jessica, Evan, Jay, and I went back to Jay's place. Oh yea-you still owe me a shot for my B-day Canada. Thanks to everyone who got me B-day presents- I have enough alcohol to last me for a really really long time!!! The Redneck Wine from Akron was awesome...

    *The Beagle:
-I have been there three times the last quarter. I was there for my 21st. I was also there with Amy, since none of her friends are 21 yet, and she wanted to see what the Beagle was like. I also went there for Hannah's 22nd B-day, which was a lot of fun. It wasn't that great of a night for one of my roommate's who will remain nameless. Overall, the Beagle is a lot nicer than what I thought.

    *Engagements
-A lot of my friends are getting engaged, which means a lot of weddings next year. I am especially happy for one of my good friends back home, Cassie, who just became engaged. I can't believe that a year from now, she will be Mrs. Schultz!!

    *Roommates
-So far, so good on the roommate front. All of us are pretty laid back, even though I am barely in the apartment besides time to eat and sleep. Roommate-bonding activities are fun, especially when they involve Chipotles, Tim Hortons, and Ohio State losing....

    *Sports
-It was sad that the tigers didn't get into the playoffs, but the way they played the last month of the season made them deserve their fate. It was good to see that the Indians and Yankees lose- since the Yankees are basically the devil and the Indians aren't nearly as good as the Tigers. It was too bad that MSU didn't beat OSU or U of M, that would have made my football season. However, U of M losing to Appalachia State definitely made me laugh. The quote of the game came from Brendon: "you know it is bad when U of M lost to a team who's main instrument in the marching band was the banjo." Perhaps even better though, was OSU getting beat by Illinois. If OSU wasn't so cocky, I honestly would probably root for them over U of M. However, since both U of M and OSU are cocky, I am now rooting for only MSU. Go Wings!!! Go Pistons!!!

    *Classes
-P5 year is hard. However, it is amazingly exciting to realize that the end is just around the corner. We schedule are first round of rotations a month ago. These were the ones you had to do in Ohio with shared faculty. For sure, I will be in Ada from August-November doing rotations in Findlay, Lima, and Bellfontaine. It would've been nice doing all of my rotations in MI, but at least I am getting out a year early still. It was nice doing all that work on the fertility article with Dr. Hrometz over the summer. We finished it about a month and a half ago, and sent it to the editors in Spain. Supposedly the editor likes it and wants Dr. Hrometz and I to do another article on infertility and the male. I wasn't expecting any money at all from helping Dr. Hrometz with the article, just credit for a Honors Contract Course. However, since Dr. Hrometz is coordinating Endocrine, she came up to me during break and was wondering if she could use my name for a reference in class in case people had any questions about fertility and the menstrual cycle. She also informed me of a stipend we got from the journal for writing the piece. That definitely made my day!!! I also got a lot of questions from fellow classmates, which was cool!! I actually enjoyed endocrine, but I think I enjoyed CNS more!!

    *Girls Gone Wild
-The fact that they came to Ada made me laugh. The publicity that the protesters gave Girls Gone Wild left me in stitches!! I couldn't believe how some of the protesters treated the newspaper writer covering the event. Some people are just to quick to jump on others before listening to their viewpoints- so shame on them!!! Kudos to Fr. Dave for not publicizing the event by not talking about it during his homily.

    *Work
-It is sorta sad, Walgreens back home lost their 24 hour status, which means less hours for everyone, which in turn means no hours for me when I am home. It is ok, the stipend will last me for a long long time!!!

    *Margarita nights
-Margarita nights have definitely been a success. Em and I are becoming Margarita making pros with all the pals enjoying them as well with either sugar or salt on the rims- I think we are up to making 30 margaritas this last quarter.

    *Random trips
-Beth and I are determined to visit as many art museums as we can in the next year. We visited the Toledo Art Museum a few weeks ago and only got about 70% of it done. It is a very nice museum, and even better- it is free!! We also went to the Afro-Carribean Ensemble a Presser put on by the BGSU students, which was well done!!

    *My Grandfather
-He passed away a year ago last Friday. That was a really shitty point in my life last year, thanks for all who understood and helped me through that time. For those who didn't- I should've known you weren't that good of friends to begin with-so at least I learned a lesson. It is still really odd to think that he passed away.......

    *in the future
-I really won't care about school work after this next quarter for a few reasons: 1.) scholarship reassessment for me takes place after this next quarter. 2.) It will be capstone and other blow-off classes, which makes my life easier. 3.) It will be the last time I spend some quality time with some quality friends.
-Which means, TRIP TIME SPRING QUARTER...
    -some ideas:
-Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
    -Cedar Point
    -Mudhens Game
    -Hockey Game

    *Break plans:
    -Thanksgiving with Ev's family
-Saturday after Thanksgiving with Polish family
-in the meantime: spending time with Evan, my family, my Grandmother, and countless double dates and girls time........

    Thank God for:
-This year going better than last year
-only two more quarters of book-work
    -Graduation in 5 quarters
-deciding to do the pharmacy program in 5 years!!!

-The next real update will probably most likely be either Christmas or at the end of next quarter..

    Til then!!

    Indecision 2008.....
    * Disclaimer: I will actually post a real, live livejournal entry once I get home on Tuesday, but until then...

So, I decided to procrastinate after I took my test today, and MSN had this cool interactive grid that had all the presidental candidates, and all of there viewpoints, so you could see which viewpoints you matched up with with each candidate, here is the website if any people are interested: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21116732/

    The non-surprises:
-Barack is still #1 for me
-Guiliani is #3 for me, my favorite of the Republicans....
-Romney is still not on my love, like-list, but is number 3 on my fav. republicans, which is 8th overall
    The surprises:
-I didn't know much about Richardson before I did this thingy, I actually kind of like him (not as much as Barack, and I don't think he really has a chance to win- but I think he might have moved to my #2 spot).
-HILLARY IS NOT LAST ON MY LIST OF THE 16 candidates... there are actually two people that I don't like more then her, which are:
-Fred Thompson.... he has made a comment that Global Warming does not exist
-Tom Tancredo... this guy REALLY REALLY REALLY scares me: he doesn't believe Global Warming exists either, and his answer to the Iraq war is basically to stay in Iraq, so if terrorists threaten to attack America again, "he can bomb mosques in various Arabic cities."- that scared the crap out of me....

    Poor Bluffton Ohio
I knew that there had been flooding in Ohio.. but I had no idea that the flooding was that close to Ada. My dad yelled down to me in the basement to put Fox News on, and there was Findlay and Bluffton Ohio immersed in multiple feet of water. I panicked and called everyone I knew that was in Ohio. Thankfully, somehow Ada only got a handful of inches, while Bluffton and Findlay were both hammered with 9 inches in a few short hours. The people on the news stated that it will take months or years to rebuild both communities. It seems that Bluffton has had a lot of suffering the last year with this flood and the baseball team tragedy. So everyone should keep both communities in your prayers!

In other news, the summer is quickly flying by: Holy Shit, where did it all go to??

Some highlights of the last few weeks, since I haven't posted that recently!!
-Cedar Point with my fellow WAGS interns, as WAGS paid for transportation ( a big-ass bus, tickets, and meals). We got to go on the Maverick, which was a sweeter ride than I had imagined and worth the 1.5 hour wait. The best part of the day though was when Heather, the Pharmacy supervisor on the way home was like, "We are WAGS and we can do better than feeding the 50 of you with Pizza, we're going to Arby's." So our huge bus-load emptied at a Arby's in nowheresville, OH (no, not Ada). Heather told us to get anything we wanted as she had the Gold American Express WAGs card. It was insane, as some of the Ferris interns went crazy and went on to buy food for 4 meals as the total bill came to a very, very large amount.
-Other Walgreen Intern activities: Detroit Zoo, Movie Day at the Distict Office, and Bowling. These events also kicked ass as all of the interns bonded even more. I enjoyed bowling, even though I had a pittiful first round score. However, I doubled my score in the next round, and Walgreens gave all of us flip-flops with Walgreens on them as parting gifts.
-Evan and I went to the Toledo Art Museum. It was an amazing experience, it is such a beautiful museum. And the best part of it was that is was free! We really enjoyed the glass-blowing exhibit. It is soooo impressive the time and patience that is put into making the beautiful pieces.
-I went to the Windsor Casino with my folks. It is such a beautiful casino! I won $40 from playing $5 on the penny and nickel slots. They had these really cool Star Wars Themed Slot Machines that I made a killing on! The lunch we had afterwards was first class as well!
-The paper with Dr. Hrometz is going really well. I think we are going to try to finish it the next week or so!

    Plans on deck:
-Watch the Tigers kill the Indians in baseball
-Hanging out with the Interns tonight as some of them are departing the next few days
    -Finishing the journal article
-Last day at work is this Monday. I am going to miss everyone there, two of the techs and I are extremely close and are going to stay in touch while I am away.
-Enjoying turning 21. The Michigan party is going to be pretty tame next Wednesday as we are going to Dave and Busters. It'll be cool though as a cross-section of peeps will be attending: co-workers, high-school friends, college friends, WAGS interns.
-Hearing plans about my 21st B-day Party in Ada.... this one is definitely not going to be as tame. It will still kick serious ass though!!
-Packing for school. Part of me is excited to be going back as I will be able to see some of my fav. peeps, even though I have chatted with them a couple of times on the tele. Part of me will definitely miss my peeps back here though and making mad cash by working my arse off!!

-To my MI hommies: hopefully I will see y'all before I head back to school.
-To my OH hommies: see ya soon!!

ONLY TWO MORE YEARS OF SCHOOL LEFT.... WOOHOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    You're In The Laundry Room
I can't believe how quickly summer has been flying by.

The majority of my time if spent four ways: work, working on the journal article with Hrometz, Physical Therapy for my knee (Three times a week for at least an hour), or hanging out with friends/family.

I really enjoy the fun Wednesdays with my fellow WAGS interns. It is really cool to chat and network with the pharmacy supervisors and get to know other pharmacy interns well. To make things better, all of the interns get along pretty well, which makes life easy.

Last week, the pharmacy interns played against the pharmacy supervisors in a softball game. Since I couldn't play because I injured my knee two days before and started PT the day before, I was the intern team manager. It was insane how everyone was getting into it. The interns ended up beating the pharmacy supervisors. I got somewhat sunburned as a result.

Tomorrow is the WAGs interns Cedar Point day. Sadly, it might rain. But, I won't be disappointed either way: WAGs is paying for the bus, tickets, breakfast, and dinner at the park. We also get paid for the eight hour work day.

Yesterday was an odd day at the pharmacy, especially with the Xanax patients. This first lady in drive-thru was yelling because she claimed she had a refill for the rx left. I was the first to talk with her, and she claimed she dropped off the bottle earlier. When she talked with the tech, she claimed she called in the refill. It was a little fishy. She sped off from drive-thru. The Pharmacist laughed, and wanted to tell the lady "umm.. we see why you need the xanax.. sorry that we can't help you though."

The next patient brought in a xanax bottle to get refilled. However, the script expired the day before, and he threw a fit.

Last week I saw a Beatles tribute band, 1964 with Evan and his family. They were really good, especially when they did one of my favorite Beatles songs "In My Life".

Next week is the ZZ Top/Pretenders/ Stray Cats concert with Evan, his bro, and Brendon. I am really looking forward to that day: WAGs event at the Detroit Zoo in the morning and concert at night.

I won tickets to the Kenny Loggins concert at Freedom Hill the next week, so that should be fun!!

    Quote of the week:

The settup: Bev, the pharmacist, is chatting with a customer in drive-thru. The lady wants to know the name a good Peds Doctor in the area. Bev asks me, and I give Bev the name of my Peds doctor.

lady in drive-thru: What ethnicity is this lady?
    Bev asks me.
    Me: Um... scottish??? maybe Irish???
Bev tells the woman, the woman wants me to chat with her.
lady in drive-thru: So the doctor is caucasian??
Me: yep.. and she has adopted children from Russia.
Bev later: You just had to throw in the Russia dig, didn't you.

Now off to din-din with some of my WAGS interns.

    Lataz..
